“‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations’” Matthew 28:18-20 ESV

Five Benefits of Regular Family Worship

“Regularly having planned times of reading the Bible, singing and praying together as a family helps establish a healthy spirituality in the home… Family worship is a great way for parents to evangelize and disciple their children… Children can learn to worship corporately with other believers by consistently worshiping the Lord in their homes… Regular family worship provides parents natural opportunities to encourage their children to talk about their inner spiritual lives… Regular family worship provides an opportunity to testify to the truth and power of the gospel to guests in your home.”

Sanctification is Not Gender-Neutral | Toby Sumpter

“In this episode of Having Two Legs, Pastor Toby Sumpter discusses the fact that sanctification is not gender-neutral… ‘Being holy as a man means growing in your masculinity, taking initiative, responsibility, learning to sacrifice in love. Being holy as a woman means growing in your femininity, cultivating fruitfulness, beauty, and wisdom. Holiness is not gender-neutral or some kind of Zen state of mind. Holiness is Spirit-empowered obedience in your particular circumstances.”

# Work and Keep
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” Genesis 2:15 ESV

“As President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “You know, farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil, and you’re a thousand miles from the corn field.” The same is true of warfare; it looks mighty easy when your rifle is a budget approval and you are six thousand miles from the battlefield.” — In the Blood: A Thriller (Terminal List Book 5) by Jack Carr

Illinois gardeners on alert for invasive jumping worms

“CHICAGO — It sounds like something out of a horror movie, and it will probably give some gardeners nightmares, but an invasive species of ravenous jumping worms is slithering their way across Illinois. The worms which are native to East Asia, are a glossy gray or brown with a white band, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture says they thrash around and can leap one foot into the air… These slimy pests also devour nutrients from the soil, leaving it unable to sustain trees or plants and according to some scientists could slowly destroy entire forestsIf you spot one of these creatures, you’re urged to take a photo and submit it to your local University of Illinois Extension office. Jumping worms’ tails separate from their bodies when caught, so experts say the best way to get rid of the them is to seal them in a plastic bag and then toss it into the trash.”

What many Christians misunderstand about Bitcoin

“There are a lot of misconceptions about Bitcoin among Christians and unfortunately, they continue to persist. In this article, I hope to dispel a lot of the misconceptions which disproportionately affect older people, who have some trouble with the mental models around Bitcoin… Bitcoin is digital, decentralized, and scarce all at the same time. This is achieved through some very clever uses of cryptography and computer science structures. The result has been one of the largest disruptions of finance that we’ve ever seen… Alternative cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum, Ripple and Solana, have not achieved decentralization and are really of the second category of digital things, scarce, but centralized… the computational power required to break the cryptography in Bitcoin would require far more energy than exists in the Milky Way and far more time than the age of the universe. That kind of security is unavailable in the physical world… Any single copy of the Bitcoin data is enough to continue operation, and there are literally tens of thousands of such copies… Bitcoin, being decentralized, can essentially survive any huge energy grid and internet infrastructure disruptions and more importantly, everyone on the network is incentivized to keep those connections… It doesn’t have a central bank so the volatility is entirely market-driven. This is why there’s so much volatility over the short-term. However, this is also a very good thing because over the long term, the fixed supply and increasing demand mean that price is the only release valve. Bitcoin has done fantastically against the dollar over the last 10 years precisely because of this dynamic… Bitcoin breaks our mental models because we’re so used to thinking about digital things in a particular way. The fact that it’s digital, decentralized and scarce is a real innovation, the likes of which we haven’t seen before. The result has been that we’re able to store value without interference from the state, which in a world of financial censorship, is quite valuable.”

# Trained Men
“he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them” Genesis 14:14 ESV

“Many don’t feel a responsibility to be prepared to protect their spouses and children when that primal task can be outsourced; just call 911. A moral vanity has trumped the obligation to protect their lives and the lives of those they love; that is the job of the police in a civilized society, after all. If that describes you, and you are picking this book up for the first time, perhaps you should put it down. You might not identify with, you might even despise, the protagonist in these pages. Self-reliant men, capable of extreme violence in defense of their lives, their families, and of freedom makes some people nervous.” — In the Blood: A Thriller (Terminal List Book 5) by Jack Carr

Forward Observer: U.S. SENDS ANOTHER SHIP THROUGH TAIWAN STRAIT: The Daily SA for Thursday, 12 MAY 22

Meanwhile, as we reported earlier in the year, fuel inventories remain low, especially on the East Coast where fuel shortages are now expected. Scoop: DHS preparing for violence following abortion ruling

“The big picture: Law enforcement agencies are investigating social-media threats to burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their clerks, as well as attacks targeting places of worship and abortion clinics… The unclassified May 13 memo by DHS’ intelligence arm says threats that followed the leak of a draft opinion — targeting Supreme Court Justices, lawmakers and other public officials, as well as clergy and health care providers — ‘are likely to persist and may increase leading up to and following the issuing of the Court’s official ruling.’… The memo, along with communications between government and the private sector, show how multiple agencies are mobilizing to try to get ahead of ahead of civil unrest.”

CDC Tracked Millions of Americans’ Phones, Including at Church, to See if They Were Obeying COVID Lockdowns

“a new report reveals the federal government snooped on American citizens using their cell phones during the COVID pandemic, and it’s nothing to laugh about. The secular news outlet VICE reports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) bought access to location data harvested from tens of millions of phones in the United States to perform analysis of compliance with curfews, track patterns of people visiting K-12 schools, and specifically monitor the effectiveness of policy in the Navajo Nation, according to CDC documents dated 2021 and obtained by VICE’s Motherboard… Using the COVID-19 pandemic as a reason, the CDC paid SafeGraph, a private firm, for access to the dataThe CDC used the data to monitor COVID curfews, neighbor-to-neighbor visits, visits to churches, other places of worship, schools, and pharmacies for “vaccine monitoring.” … VICE’s Motherboard received the documents through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the CDC. ‘We can track you wherever you go and by doing that, we can figure out what it is you’re doing because we get enough data, we can figure out when you do these certain actions, this is what you’re involved in,’ he said.”

“When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he assembled his 318 trained men, born in his household, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.” Genesis‬ ‭14:14‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“The right to life is a good example of what legal historians refer to as an objective right: it is objective in the sense that it exists outside ourselves and is unalienable… The right to life imposes obligations: you must do everything in your power to preserve it.”
