Being a Man or Woman of God: Psalm 1

How to be a man or woman of God from Psalm 1

Choose not to follow in the ways of the wicked
“Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

Blessed, happy, is the person that doesn’t follow the ways of fools.

Choose instead to delight in the Word of God
“but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.”

Cultivate an appetite for the Word of God. Feelings, like delight, are a product of our decision to delight.

Meditate on God’s word. Meditate is a verb; it’s something you do, even if you don’t feel like it.

You become a rooted person fruitful and prosperous
“He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.”

When trials or troubles come, your hope is sure, your roots are deep, and cannot be shaken.
