Homeschool 2019-2020

A Vision for the Dobra Family Academy

Why we homeschool
To seek first God’s kingdom in our children’s education. To obey God’s command in the education of our children and to disciple and prepare them for the mission God has planned for them.

1. To seek first God’s kingdom for our education
2. To obey God’s command for our education
3. To disciple and prepare for the mission God has given each of us

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:2

Our Purpose in Homeschooling

To leave a Godly legacy! The family is God’s smallest battle formation!

“Haven’t you read,” Jesus replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

Matthew 19:4-6

To make Him known!

Take pride in your education. Don’t be bitter and negative when people ask you about it (Latin), instead show pride that you will have a great achievement at the end of your elementary education. Be proud of the legacy left for you.

Be prepared to fight the good fight, to share your faith.

Our greatest battles are battles of the mind, battles against false ideas.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ”

2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Be prepared to lead the next generation.

Our education is the training of our minds and understanding of God and who He has made us to be. It is the sharpening of our mental tools to battle against false ideas.

Great achievements take hard work. In the middle of the work we may feel like whining and grumbling and even giving up or taking short cuts, but if we do we will never know the feeling of accomplishing something great.
